McClure leaves Division of Finance

Matt Wagner, SBJ ReporterEric McClure, a Rogersville resident who was appointed Missouri Division of Finance commissioner by former Gov. Bob Holden in January 2003, has left his post after six years, but my efforts to find out more about his departure have come up empty.

I tried to reach McClure this afternoon for a story, but a state employee who answered the phone informed me that he was no longer with the division. A call to McClure’s cell phone was met with this recorded message: “The person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time.” I also tried him at home, but got a busy signal.

I followed that call with another to Gov. Nixon’s spokesman, Jack Cardetti, to find out if the governor has named his designee to lead the Division of Finance. I’m still waiting to hear back. For the time being, Deputy Finance Commissioner Rich Weaver is filling in.

Prior to serving as commissioner, McClure was deputy commissioner and district supervisor of the division’s Springfield office, where he also worked as a bank examiner. McClure graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1980 with a degree in banking and finance.

Stay tuned to for more about this developing story.
