Whitaker Publishing heads to Branson

Jeremy Elwood, SBJ ReporterWhitaker Publishing is adding a sixth magazine to its growing list of publications.

The Springfield-based publisher is launching Branson Vacation Magazine in April, to join the ranks of the company’s other pubs: 417 Magazine, 417 Home, 417 Bride, GO Magazine and Wichita Magazine.

Company President Gary Whitaker says the new tabloid-style Branson magazine will cover Branson events and entertainment options, along with retail, dining, real estate and outdoor recreation. The hard copies of the magazine will be distributed through direct mail and as inserts in paid-subscription newspapers within a day’s drive of Branson, while a digital format will be available online.

“It is being designed and written as a vacation planner for prospective visitors to the Branson and Tri-Lakes area,” Whitaker said in a news release. “They can use it to plan their vacations, and then use it as a resource guide for the best things to do and see once they’re here.”

The company plans to produce five issues a year, distributed to ZIP codes with the largest concentration of likely Branson visitors as determined through Branson Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau research.
