Small Giants hosts Great Game webinar

Jennifer Muzinic, SBJ ReporterSpringfield-based Great Game of Business is introducing its open book management style to a group of small giants via a free webinar July 28.

The webinar, hosted by the Small Giants Community, will begin at 11 a.m. and is open to anyone. Interested? You may want to get in on this one: the community’s First Officer of Mojo Glenn Burr (yes, that’s his real title) said the group may charge nonmembers for similar events in the future.

The Small Giants Community is a network of businesspeople, formed as a joint venture between Paul Spiegelman, CEO of Bedford, Texas-based Beryl Co. and Bo Burlingham, who authored the book “Small Giants” and co-authored SRC Holdings Corp. founder Jack Stack’s “The Great Game of Business”. In “Small Giants”, Burlingham introduced readers to 14 small to midsize companies that focus less on growth and more on workplace culture. The community is a venue for companies that consider themselves small giants to share ideas and take part in events and educational opportunities.

Great Game’s employee-centered philosophy makes it a small giant. Great Game, first played by Springfield Remanufacturing Corp. when the employees purchased the Springfield plant from International Harvester in 1983, has become a standalone business with Great Game staff teaching its philosophy through training, seminars, conferences and publications.

You can register for the webinar at the Small Giants Web site, www.smallgiants.org.
