#SBJ4040: A party with purpose

It was a party with a cause last night as Springfield Business Journal celebrated the 2015 class of 40 Under 40.

With nearly 450 in attendance, the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center played host to the 17th annual awards ceremony, which honored individuals under the age of 40 for their personal accomplishments in civic and professional arenas. And true to form, the office phone rang nonstop yesterday as people clamored for last-minute tickets to the sold-out event.

Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 tickets were a precious commodity in the Ozarks yesterday.

The SBJ office phone didn’t stop ringing all morning, and the office was abuzz with excitement.

By noon, it was a sold out crowd.

Any event that includes a macaroni and cheese martini bar is a success.

For more than a decade, Springfield Business Journal has presented annual awards, starting off in 1999 with our inaugural class of 40 Under 40, recognizing up-and-comers younger than 40 for their professional and civic accomplishments. Now, we’re adding to that event with a charitable component.

A 40 Under 40 Postmortem

As we trumpeted the horns for another class of 40 professionals under the age of 40, it occurred to me as I was watching from the Gillioz Theatre balcony that this annual award propels these individuals to greater works in our community. SBJ 40 Under 40 alumni include Matt Blunt, Joe Turner, Shawn Askinosie and Richard Ollis.
